Academic advisors are educators who help you achieve your academic and career goals. You and your academic advisor will develop a collaborative relationship centered on your success, persistence, and goal completion. Academic advisors do this by helping you explore goals, interests, strengths, values, and concerns through positive, open-ended questions and holistic, proactive, and appreciative advising strategies.
In academic advising meetings, you plan your classes, complete your academic plan, discuss any program requirements and strategies for your success. You also learn about resources and opportunities available to support your academic and personal growth at Kirkwood.
Find your academic advisor and their appointment scheduling link here: MyHub Support. Making an appointment in advance ensures your advisor is prepared for the meeting and your specific needs, but you are always welcome to stop in when you need help.
Degree-seeking students with fewer than 34 credit hours will have a Student Success Meeting with their academic advisor each semester to access information and resources to help them succeed.
